Supplement Recommendations

Written by: Paulette Weber

As healthcare practitioners we want the products we recommend to be efficacious, safe and targeted to meet your needs. It can be difficult to achieve these results without strict product quality control. Dietary supplement oversight by our government is not performed in the same manner as oversight in the pharmaceutical industry. In fact, the government steps in when there are complaints but up until that point there is little direction or regulation. For this reason, it becomes extremely important for healthcare practitioners to recommend supplements from companies proven to follow strict quality control processes.
At HCIM, we have researched the "behind-the-scenes" processes of supplement companies. We have only brought the products that meet our strict quality standards into the office. This guarantees you are buying safe products, free of heavy metals, pesticides, glyphosate, chemicals, obesogens, endocrine disruptors, dyes, and fillers. If a product is on our shelves then you can feel confident knowing that we have researched and trust that product. We continuously read clinical articles, attend conferences, consult with colleagues and even tour the manufacturing plants. We use these supplements ourselves and recommend them to our families.
People sometimes have the impression that we are just trying to sell them something. Please take a moment to try and look at this from our perspective.  Product safety is a huge concern for us. Consumer Lab distributed 14 product warnings and recalls in the last 2 months. This means that poor quality dietary supplements can be a risk to your health. We would never take this type of chance. We also want you to receive the desired health results from your supplements. If a company does not check their raw ingredients or does not test their products throughout the distribution chain, the quality will be questionable and potentially dangerous.

For this reason, we take the brand of supplements, their exact ingredients and dosage very seriously. Why are supplements from big box stores so inexpensive?  You get what you pay for!  Please do not waste your money, or health on cheap supplements full of fillers and mysterious ingredients.  For more information, please refer to the document “Why Xymogen” in the Harvey Center lobby or schedule an introductory meeting with myself or Dr. Fred Harvey to learn more about proper dosing and the benefits of professional supplement prescriptions.

Wishing you many years of optimal health,
Paulette Weber, RD, LD/N, CLT
